Things do not go as planned and suddenly they’re all stuck together, on the run and working to bring him down - along with Ryan, the ‘mad mercenary’ who holds a grudge against Edgar, and Gavin, a data analyst with his own secrets. And of course, because things aren’t already complicated as hell, they just have to start falling for each other.(slow build AH-OT6, criminal/GTA AU) Language: English Words: 365,063 Chapters: 30/30 Comments: Kudos: Bookmarks: Hits: 69907.

Hot take: Infinite Warfare has WAY better art design than BLOPS3 or AW. It has a slicker interface, shorter load times, more fluid and better-feeling movement, and massively better hit detection. The specialist abilities also aren't as annoying as BLOPS3/4, although they do still feel cheap at times. The maps are also significantly better than BLOPS3/4/AW maps. Nice and small but with verticality and decent spawns. There are some OP weapons (primarily akimbo shotguns and snipers) but they aren't too irritating.

Looking forward to see you try it. I've learned a LOT from building that first level, and I think I'm going to eventually make it into the Prologue, and Act 1 the one I'm currently on since I'm going to balance out the stuff you get a bit more.

The first level is more of a 'learn the mechanics and try out a bunch of the weapons' level where as the level I'm currently building is more of a 'Things get real.' Pretty much nothing carries over from the first level (I was originally going to do that but I realized it will take away a lot from this level.) so it's a fresh experience, but much more unforgiving.

Most of the Final Fantasy series is on sale on Steam. I never bothered with anything after X (until Zodiac age, anyway) due to the railroaded plot and corridor simulator in 13, but I've heard most of the issues were corrected in the direct sequels. Do FFXIII parts 2 and 3 have proper exploration and discovery? Should I give the trilogy a chance? Also, people say the Steam version of Chrono Trigger was a disappointment and the DS version is still the definitive port.

Since I'm getting into Revenant Wings, should I bother with the Steam version or just stick to DS? FFVI, first half is complete. I seriously considered letting Cid die, since he was an evil bastard who stuck innocent unicorns in life-draining capsules and you get one of the most poignant moments in all of Final Fantasy if he dies. Anyway, now getting ready for one of the more challenging bits of the game: charging through the burning house and getting all the treasure before time runs out. Unlike escaping the floating continent, time is really tight, and many of the encounters can petrify Celes for an instant game over if you don't have an anti-status effect item equipped. YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO The first Modern Warfare was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, so it’s only natural that the fourth Modern Warfare is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Confused yet? That’s video games for you.

News of this year’s strangely named Call of Duty leaked out via YouTuber LongSensation this morning. Activision has been showing the game to press and “influencers” (YouTubers and streamers) for a week or two now, so a leak like this was inevitable. Kotaku has not seen the game or agreed to any embargo, but we’ve heard from many sources connected to the Call of Duty world that it is indeed called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and that it’s a “soft reboot” of the first one, developed by Infinity Ward for release this fall. It’ll be heavy on troubling, realistic emotional moments, very much inspired by the controversial No Russian campaign in Modern Warfare 2 that allowed the player to gun down civilians. Kotaku also broke the news on Saturday that Activision’s mega-popular military shooter series has been in flux, with Black Ops studio Treyarch taking over lead development of COD 2020 from Sledgehammer and Raven.

Video games are absurd. We can expect to see more from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare soon (likely next week).

Me and my brother got Rise Of and Shadow Of with the XBL Games Pass, I haven't started it yet but I've been watching my brother play through Rise. His impression so far is that the general areas you explore are better than the previous one, and it's cool to have more weapon variety, but he's not sure he's ready to fully say it is better. Personally to me I'm not sure it looks as good because it has a more generic plot.

Part of what made the 2013 game so good was the sheer tension of trying to escape the island with your close friends, and learning its secrets. Rise Of feels more like a typical 'gotta save everyone from these boring soldier villains' kind of thing (so far at least). The stuff thrown in about Lara's dad is sometimes interesting but doesn't feel right somehow.

So, my brother has now finished the whole Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, and I watched him play a lot of it. In his opinion, Shadow Of was the best, followed by Rise Of, followed by the first of the three. He said that 'Tomb Raider is like a 9.5, Rise Of is a 10, and Shadow Of is even better than a 10 somehow.' He said he almost cried during multiple parts in Shadow Of. Personally I do have to say that the end of Shadow Of was pretty cool, when you temporarily become queen of all the weird tribal/zombie people who fought you earlier in the game.

The final boss looked fairly challenging too. My brother had tried to complete the entire game on hard mode but gave up when combat started to heavily require stealth. I don't think I saw enough of Rise Of or Shadow Of to give them fair rankings but I find it interesting how my brother just absolutely adores them now and considers them all-time favorites despite most reviews I see online saying the sequels didn't live up to the first one. And he decided to play the first one completely spontaneously, he didn't know anything about it. Modern Warfare (2019) looks.interesting? I'm pretty mixed on the gamemode they showed in the stream today.

When they announced a 2v2 gamemode I kind of groaned because my experience with CoD has generally been 'The more players in one match, the better' (Ground War is always my favorite playlist in the games where it's still populated). Them announcing this Gunfight mode make me feel like they were continuing to push the 'competitive' aspects that have gradually made their way into CoD, basically the sSports stuff that I don't really care about. However, watching the mode in action, it actually looked kinda fun. The way it works is, it is 2v2 as mentioned, but everyone only gets one life per round. Everyone also spawns with the same weapons in this mode, and the weapons change every other round. The stream showed off a bolt-action sniper, a double-barreled shotgun and a pump action shotgun, an LMG, a burst rifle that looked like the MW3 Famas, and the Deagle.

The rounds also have a time limit of only 40 seconds and the maps are small and symmetrical so the gameplay is actually very fast-paced, unlike, say, Search And Destroy from previous CoD games. Doesn't look like there are scorestreaks in this mode either. Oh, and no health regen. The graphics are noticeably improved which makes sense due to the new engine the game is finally using. General movement seems more realistic (albeit kind of clunky). Can't sprint as long/fast, jumping doesn't look very high, guns have more sway and recoil.

TTK is pretty low, which is good. Not sure how I feel about all this. The good thing is, the full game will inevitably have the most crucial gametypes, where I'm sure there will be the more normal features like create a class, scorestreaks, respawns, 6v6/9v9 etc. So I'll hold out to see that before making any big judgment based on what they showed today. Thank you so much! I'm so glad you had such a great time with the game. It means a lot when people have a great experience.

Insectonator

We may not be making bank and selling hundreds of thousands of copies, but we get email after email of people who played the game saying just how much they loved it and how it really spoke to them deeply. A decent chunk of them want to just give us money, like a $1000 each! It's really cool to get that level of support. Maybe one day we'll take people up on their offer for extra money just because they love the game a lot XD But, we just really appreciate all the love the game is getting and it shows that what we made means something. Nice My friends are going to force me to play it when crossplat goes live. I'm not looking forward to it. I've been wanting a game to play with them for a while, but man most multiplayer games that have come out in the past years just feel very boring to me.

Or at least all the ones they've been interested in. I just hoped it wasn't me. I guess the thing is, I know most games are more fun with friends.

But lots of other games in the past I've also enjoyed playing solo, that way I can practice, learn strategies, lore, get excited for upcoming events, just get comfortable with the game on my own, and then just enjoy it more when I finally get to play with my friends. But when I originally played Destiny 2, I just. Didn't like playing it solo at all. Which means I would only want to play with them and never without them. Which in turn also means I'd basically feel like I'd be blindly following them around, not knowing what I'm doing or where to go or why and not really be into it. Feeling like I'm just along for the ride on a leash but not exactly into it at all.

Working my way up the Japanese battleship line in World of Warships and ya know, it seems like every time I play the tier 4 ship Kongo and then switch to the Tier 5 ship Fuso I end up losing rather spectacularly. Now I could chock that up to the difference in difficulty between tiers, that I can play Kongo more aggressively and get away with it because I'm playing against less skilled and experienced players and when I try that in the higher tier with Fuso I end up committing too early and get shwacked. But I prefer to think it's because Kongo is jealous and somehow sabotages Fuso and I.

I tried playing a gacha game on my phone called Elune, but I just can't get into it. Feels like I'm just going through the motions for the heck of it. I'm not even playing the game, just letting the autoplay handle the levels. Why am I even bothering lol I was vaguely considering buying Borderlands 3 when it came out on Steam, but Take-Two's recent bullshit and Randy's track record are really bothering me. I know in the end my purchase not existing will be a drop in the ocean for them, but still.

I only got to play one match last night until the servers went down for hours. Am I tripping or does the game do that thing where every assist counts as an 'elimination'? Because I got shit on in my first match but supposedly somehow still got 14 eliminations. They have this feature in CoD BLOPS4 but it makes more sense in that because the TTK is way lower than Gears. I can't figure any of the customization shit out. I don't see my Halo Reach skins, I don't see my supply drops, I don't see my boosts etc. It is a new change for the normies and only certain modes.

Did you also press start on main menu to bring up customizations? All my Halo, Terminator, beta and Gilded Gears 4 unlockables were there. The risk of cross-plat.

They manage three versions of the game; Xbox, Windows 10 and Steam. Steam version is actually quite different in that it can run on an OS as low as Vista which means that version is capable of running on worse/older hardware. Windows 10 is generally only on newer/stronger machines.

They have matchmaking. They have private game lobby list for all modes. (Fucking yes!) Campaign with three players. Campaign has open world exploration areas with side quests.

Upgradeable/playable Jack in campaign and other modes. Hive building mode. Standard PVP. Free maps for everyone in all modes, no pass needed for private. Launched with 12 maps. Crossovers with other movies and games.

(Halo and Terminator are probably just the start.) I wouldn't be surprised if Beast mode gets patched in. Most of what you listed is the bare minimum for a Gears game relative to previously set standards (excluding Escape and private game lobby lists). Where's ranked Execution? Where's Cole, Baird, Dom, or any Locust character besides RAAM (who you could only get through a limited-time Gears 4 challenge)? Why is there such poor power weapon variety?

Why are only five of the 'new' maps actually new (or three if you don't include beta maps lol)? The gameplay is possibly the best it's ever been but the actual content, at least for Versus, is abysmal. I'm level 55 now and I've barely gotten anything as a reward. The supply drops are pathetic-it's mostly just bloodsprays and emblems, not even camos or character skins. I know why they do this shit-so it's easy for them to feed you 'new' content that isn't new.

OG Cog pack featuring Cole, Baird, Dom and Hoffman-get it in October for 2,000 iron! Also they kept talking about 'player-friendly' microtransactions but then go and sell a fucking thumbs-up emote for $10? Are you shitting me? I gotta say though, Horde being 60fps on Xbox is pretty sweet. Actually beat all 50 waves in my first public match with randoms tonight.

Most of what I listed was not in previous games. Although maybe Gears 3 had 3/4 person co-op? None of the others did.

Multiplayer is focused around esports so they brought over the most popular esports maps. It's odd that Gridlock isn't a launch map but it will probably be in the first or second batch of maps. They're player friendly in that you don't have to spend $100+ in the hopes of getting all the Las Vegas exclusive event skins. You can buy exactly what you want. It just sucks that they're using the Fortnite limited cosmetic rotation system. I much prefer how LoL/Smite do it where they put everything up for purchase and add to it. Iron is non-issue, you can earn it in game.

AAPE being exclusively $20 at launch is shit though. Locust also weren't available at Gears 4 launch. First impressions of the Modern Warfare beta (copypasted from /vg/) I just played for two hours. It's fucking GARBAGE. It literally doesn't even feel like a CoD game. I mean, you pretty much summed up why CoD has the reputation it does.

As for the mini-map thing, like. Most FPS games don't have a radar or minimap. You actually have to look for enemies with your eyes. Silencers are meant to make things QUIET. If you think that not showing up on a radar makes silencers useless you're probably not listening well enough. Half of the game sense that comes from playing FPS games is listening to the environment.

You listen for footsteps, gunshots, jingling of equipment. You distingush between what the sound of each type of weapon is, and if someone on your team dies, you listen to what sound was made before that, and use their death marker as an indicator of where the opponent is going to be and how to flank them. But then again I don't know if there is any form of nuance in CoD, tbh.

Guns

That's probably why it never interested me. I mean you're not necessarily wrong, but having enemies without silencers appearing as red dots on the minimap is a staple of CoD, it has been in the series for over a decade, it's a basic fundamental feature and it makes NO FUCKING SENSE to remove it-and everyone agrees, the community is in an uproar over it. Like I said this new MW is incredibly disappointing, all they had to do was build on the formula set by the original trilogy and they could have made a fantastic entry in the series, but no, they have to go Battlefield-esque 'muh realism' BS that literally nobody asked for. I'm tired of the original (and 2, and 3, and several of the best CoD games). The original came out nearly 15 years ago, and some parts of it have aged terribly. I don't know if it's fair to call Modern Warfare 2019 a 'nostalgia cash grab' because it's the fourth in a sub-series, and the over-arching series itself has multiple other sub-series that have had 3+ sequels, and they generally go in cycles, and also it's a yearly series.

Fans have wanted a new MW game for years now. The future shit got old, the WW2 shit is even older. There was (is?) so much potential with this new one. Everything leading up to this beta sounded and looked great. But now playing it myself I'm just thinking. How did this happen?

I don't know if I just need to get used to it or something? Like I'll try it a bit more tomorrow, but my first impression is just being utterly baffled at how un-fun it is. Sheeeeiiit, that late? I mean we can still play, was just hoping sooner I guess. I started camping and I can at least get killstreaks and marginally positive k/d now, so it's a start. I do like that they brought back claymores and C4, and also even a perk that lets you have TWO claymores or two C4 packs. I also like how killstreaks are actually based on just kills now rather than 'scorestreaks' which always annoyed me because a lot of it just didn't make sense.

I like that I can actually get a UAV with just 3 kills now, or a missile with 5. I don't have to be noided about objectives, assists, etc. I also really like the deployable cover thing. It recharges fast and it definitely gives you an advantage if you plant it in the right place, but it's not as ridiculous as the microwave shield thing in BLOPS4.

I like that teammates can drop ammo packs, too. I think they brought back aim assist for snipers, which benefits a console pleb aimlet like me. I like the fast TTK, I fucking hated how long it was in BLOPS4 so this is really refreshing. I like how the points color is changed back to yellow finally. There's definitely stuff to like about this game, and I'm getting better.

I hope the full game has better maps, I think that's really what a big part of the issue is, is just that the maps aren't very good. I mean the means of which I procured the preorder may have been classified as illegal. I have two classes today, one at 10-12 and another not until 3-4. And it takes about an hour to get home after class.

So yeah, most of the time I'm not back until about 5pm when I have classes. That is unless it's Monday in which case I'm out at 8am and I'm not home til midnight. The maps always take some getting used to, but the biggest pluses I can think of is the gun customization, the quick edit option in game (to a point where you can literally copy someone's class if they keep killing you), tactical equipment feeling like equipment instead of niche resources, the larger scale modes with full on 10v10 (and later on supposed 25v25), I personally love the 2v2 gun game, and being able to hold and peek corners without exposing your entire body. Kinda sad there is no real Search and Destroy (the bomb game mode doesn't count), that run and gun always has its place with SMGs, you can get killstreaks with killstreaks still (but you need a perk to do that so, it kinda makes it better), and I can't fucking use my baby in the beta (Javelin missiles).

But overall, I'm excited to see the final product, can't wait to play through the campaign, and Spec-Ops, and hopefully there will be team tactical again.
